Source: cbc.ca
"The ever-resilient Edmonton Oilers flexed their collective muscle Saturday night at Rexall Place and will now have the opportunity to win the franchise’s sixth Stanley Cup.

The Oilers used three power-play goals to defeat the Carolina Hurricanes 4-0 in Game 6 as both teams head back to Raleigh, N.C., for the seventh and deciding game Monday night (CBC, 8 p.m. EDT).

The Hurricanes led this best-of-seven matchup 3-1, but the Oilers stepped up their special-teams play over the last two games to even the series.

"We all talk about belief. We all talk about urgency," said Edmonton forward Ryan Smyth. "We’ve given ourselves the opportunity to play in a Game 7.

"We’ll do our best to put our names on the Cup."

"The manner in which the Edmonton Oilers ousted the top-ranked Detroit Red Wings was almost as remarkable as the upset itself.  Ales Hemsky scored twice in the final four minutes as the Oilers rallied for an astonishing 4-3 victory over the Red Wings in Game 6 of their NHL Western Conference quarter-final before a frenzied crowd of 16,839 at Rexall Place on Monday.

Trailing 3-2, Hemsky tied it with 3:57 left in the third period and won it with 1:06 remaining on a dazzling give-and-go with Sergei Samsonov. Hemsky stickhandled into the offensive zone and dished the puck to Samsonov before converting the return pass for the winning goal.
Edmonton took the best-of-seven series 4-2, despite being outshot 238-156 and trailing Detroit by 29 points in the standings.

""I haven’t seen anything like that," said Edmonton goalie Dwayne Roloson."The place erupted. It was unbelievable."  Roloson, who was a trade deadline pickup, is now an Edmonton hero after finishing the series with steady play and 211 saves."
