14-Year Old Convicted in Multiple Murder

"The 14-year-old Medicine Hat girl convicted of plotting the brutal murders of the Richardson family received the maximum 10-year sentence in court Thursday.

The youngest convicted multiple murderer in Canadian history will spend four years in custody in a treatment program designed for violent young offenders diagnosed with a mental illness. She will then serve four-and-a-half years in community supervision between psychiatric facilities and group homes that will most likely put her in the community at age 18. This, combined with the 18-and-a-half months time served, equals the maximum 10-year sentence under the provisions of the Youth Criminal Justice Act (YCJA) for a 12- or 13-year- old person."

The article makes no mention of the adult man who was alleged to have participated somehow in the murders as well.
