IM Frustrated

Just like anyone else, I enjoy going on to the Instant Messenger (IM) to talk to friends and family. and this post is not intended to offend anyone. Here’s my beef, and if we can all work harder to make the effort (I admit, I’ve been guilty of it as well), it’ll make chatting on the IM much more pleasant!

If you’re going to be busy for more then a moment, change your status (busy, away, etc.) and let your contacts know you won’t be responding to their messages for a bit. It’s the polite thing to do. We have all used the excuse that we only thought we’d "be a minute" or "got tied up" with something. Although this is perfectly understandable, to be in the middle of a conversation with someone, and for them to suddenly not respond for minutes on end is incredibly frustrating. It’s no different then talking to the person and they walk away suddenly like we don’t even exist. It’s just plain rude.

So, please, let’s stop the need for excuses and take two seconds to change our status. If you’re too busy to even change your status, never mind to chat, get off the IM and save your contacts the headaches and come back on when you’re not so busy, but let your contacts know, of course. Please.

I have to agree with you on this one. I hate people who don\’t put themselves away or busy when they arn\’t there  and we all now who does that a lot. I get really pissed to. Well Happy New Years and heres to a great 2007 for you and me both.

    Cheers
