AutoPatcher for Windows XP SP2

I have installed Windows XP many times. It is one of life’s necessary evils. It takes the better part of a day to install it and set it up, but I have found a program that makes updating WinXP somewhat less painful. You must have SP2 installed first. In AutoPatcher, you can choose exactly what updates you want to install; these include all updates released for WinXP since SP2 was released. AutoPatcher contains the full updates to WinXP. You can choose which updates you want to install, and although it takes about an hour to install the updates, but saves on download time, and especially having to constantly restart your computer after every few updates, as the program installs the chosen updates and restarts the computer just once.

The major upsides to AutoPatcher is that it is very easy to use and navigate. It is also FREE. If you have dial-up or are going to install Windows on a computer without the Internet, you can easily download this program, and its associated monthly updates, and burn them to CD or DVD. This is much easier then creating a complicated batch file to install all of the updates.

The only downside to this program is that it does not describe what each update’s purpose is to fix or update. Although, if you’re so inclined, you can use the supplied Microsoft Knowledge Base Article Number and find out yourself.
